Worthy Engagement
Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. (1 Peter 1:13)
We make life so hard. We worry, complain, and disappoint. Finding purpose is a lifelong struggle, with many joys along the way. Life's purpose isn’t seen in a suitable occupation or the right hobby. Instead, we find meaning where passion and God’s call meet. Joy is found in fulfilling God’s call in ways that speak to your heart. Thankfully, the purpose is different for each person. The Apostle Paul states that while we are part of one body, we are many parts. Thus, our aim is found in the community because we can only fulfill our purpose when laid upon others' vocations. Together, we can do so much more to achieve the challenging demands of God’s divine calling.
“The Secret to Living a Life of Meaning and Purpose” by Ayodeji Awosika dispels the notion that purpose is elusive. Awosika believes, “The meaning of life is obvious…The meaning of life is to be useful.” When we are helpful to God through caring for others, divine joy ignites in our life. What ignites our life is to be involved with God through engagement with people and commitments that make life blessed.
Awosika continues, “Your relationship with what you do matters. The meaning of life is to engage in it regardless of what you’re doing.” To make a difference in God’s name must be met with hope and joy. Society and its injustice can wear down our enthusiasm and belief. The stupidity of dull and meaningless activities depletes our energy, making lasting divine change more difficult to achieve. To bring Christ to the world, we are called to align ourselves with transformative blessings through Christ.
Today, pray for the ability to align yourself with God’s desires. Each of us has the gift of the Holy Spirit to motivate engagement with the world and the heavenly kingdom. Awosika describes the blessing this way, “I had a relationship with a path to a better future and it showed.” When you seek divine engagement and are on the proper path, God’s Spirit will show it to you through your heart and mind joining in a bliss that comes with knowing you are in the right place at the right time. As long as you prayerfully include God along your path, the Spirit will engage you in activities worthy of your baptized and blessed life.
