Come for terrific music, amazing talent, great desserts, gourmet coffees, refreshing teas, affordable fun, and friendly faces! Anchor Coffee House at Westminster Church is all this and more!

Doors open at 6:30 and shows start at 7:00 every night!

TICKETS

Individual Artist: A single ticket for a single show. $20 in advance, or $25 at the door.

“Pick 3”: A set of 3 tickets good for any combination of shows. $60.

Season Pass: A booklet with tickets to all 6 shows for the season. $110.

• Tickets can be purchased online by clicking on our donations link and writing "Anchor Coffee House" in the memo line.
• Tickets can also be purchased in the church office during normal business hours, in person , or over the phone with a credit card.  Call 515-274-1534.
• Tickets are available in The Commons on Sunday before and after worship prior to each show.
•  Uptempo Music, 2714 Beaver Avenue in Beaverdale, also sells Anchor Coffee House tickets. Call 515-277-0145.

Awful Purdies

Awful Purdies is a Folk-Americana collective of five multi-instrumental women, powered by seamless harmonies, banjo, accordion, cello, guitar, mandolin, and bass. The sound is an earnest nod to traditional American music, folk, old country, bluegrass, honky tonk, and soul. Since 2006, Awful Purdies have been raising families, telling women’s stories, advocating for human rights, and engaging with their communities in Eastern Iowa.

Catfish Keith

Catfish Keith is a wonderful guitarist and a fine exponent of acoustic blues. With his resonator and vintage-sounding guitars, and a fine ear for wheedling out old blues and folk tunes that he can re-work for a modern audience, he’s been entertaining people all round the world for nearly forty years. He’s been nominated for Grammys and Blues Music Awards on a number of occasions, has headlined major music festivals, and appeared with legendary artists like John Lee Hooker, Ray Charles, Robert Cray, Koko Taylor, Taj Mahal, Jessie Mae Hemphill, and Johnny Shines.

Bob Pace

Guitarist Bob Pace has entertained Midwest audiences for more than 40 years. He proudly led the Tuesday night house band at the legendary Blues on Grand for almost 20 years. He’s a member of the Iowa Blues Hall of Fame and the Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame. He has also won the Iowa Blues Challenge solo/duo competition with IBHOF member Steve E. George.

Big Joe Kinser

Big Joe Kinser plays acoustic guitar-driven American roots music. Occupying that space between country, rock, folk, pop and blues, he writes and sings songs that are by turns humorous and heartbreaking. Teresa Storch Band grew organically from the meeting of (now husband and wife) Teresa  Storch and Peter Lacis. Storch’s soulful voice and lyrics combine with Lacis’ soaring and complex guitar arrangements, creating an original, genre-pushing rock sound with jam and roots origins. As a duo, Storch & Lacis have toured internationally, performing at festivals in Scotland and Ireland.

Tickets to Anchor Coffee House

There are two ticket options listed below for Anchor Coffee House performances.  All tickets are general admission and ticket prices will vary from season to season depending on the number of shows and the artists being presented.  Don’t forget to sign up for our email list to be reminded of upcoming shows or visit and friend us on Facebook!

  1. Single Show Advanced tickets may be purchased anytime in person at the church office and/or by contacting the church office; purchase by credit card until the day before the performance. Single Show Advanced tickets are available beginning three weeks before the performance at Up-Tempo Music™ located at 2714 Beaver Avenue Des Moines, Iowa 50310.

  2. Door tickets for every performance are available 1 hour before the show at the door.


Anchor Coffee House performance cancellation and refund policy

Anchor Coffee House is following state and local guidelines, and has the right to cancel or postpone performances due to public health guidelines. We may, however, ask people to wear face coverings and/or implement social distancing measures.

In the event of a cancellation of an Anchor Coffee House performance due to weather or other emergency an attempt will be made to reschedule the canceled artist in the same performance season. 

If it is not possible to reschedule the artist in the same season, tickets for that performance will be re-funded upon request at the full price of the ticket. To receive a full refund, tickets to the canceled performance must be presented in person to the Westminster Presbyterian Church Business office.

Alternate Artist

In the event of a cancellation the Anchor Coffee House has the option to present an alternate artist at the same ticket prices or offer different ticket prices for the alternate artist performance.  In this event, ticket holders have the option to use the original ticket for admittance to the alternate artist performance or, upon request, receive a full refund for the original performance ticket.
