Year of Kindness and Gratitude: Volunteering

For the remainder of July, the Connections Committee challenges you to spread your kindness and gratitude out into the community by volunteering. Studies suggest that our acts of kindness and gratitude can have meaningful ripple effects in our communities.

There are lots of volunteer opportunities throughout the community. Below are a few opportunities to volunteer at Westminster:

• Help cook/serve for the July 22nd Shelter Meal. Students can receive Silver cord hours.

• Beaverdale National Night, August 6, 6:00-8:00 PM, help with set up/hand out popcorn, water and dog treats

• Join one of Westminster’s committees – a great way to meet members

• Volunteer to be part of an Usher team

• Volunteer to be part of the Welcome Center team

Contact Susan at 515-274-1534 or sdenton@westpres.org if you would like to volunteer for any of the above or have questions about other volunteer opportunities available at Westminster.

Don’t forget to add to the Gratitude Wall in The Commons!

“Gratitude, like faith, is a muscle. The more you use it, the stronger it grows, and the more power you have to use it on your behalf. If you do not practice gratefulness, its benefaction will go unnoticed, and your capacity to draw on its gifts will be diminished. To be grateful is to find blessings in everything. This is the most powerful attitude to adopt, for there are blessings in everything.”— Alan Cohen
