Meet Our New Members

Joel & Kelly Shrock

Joel and Kelly Shrock came to Iowa from Indiana in September 2022. They have three children, Owen, JD and Brenton. Both were very active in the First Presbyterian Church, Muncie, Indiana. Joel served as a Deacon and Sunday school teacher. Kelly was an elder and very involved in church activities. Joel is the Vice President of Academic Affairs at Graceland University and Kelly is the Executive Director of the Des Moines Public Library Foundation. Their rescue dog, Pongo, keeps watch over their house and is always on the lookout for his boys to come home.

Rickey & Judy Woody

Rickey and Judy Woody came to Westminster from Covenant Presbyterian Church in Lubbock, Texas. Longtime members of Covenant, they both served as elders and were involved in many aspects of the church throughout the years. Their son moved to the Des Moines area after graduate school, and after several visits, they decided to move here! They relish the time they spend with their son and his wife. They love walking, biking and cultural activities. They have two collies. Ricky has a music education and school administration background. He keeps busy training collies, writing a Substack blog, and learning the magic of gardening. Judy has degrees in music education and string pedagogy. She enjoys playing with the Simpson College Community Orchestra and continues to travel back to Lubbock to play in the Lubbock Symphony and teach in the schools.

Jan & Harris Schultz

Jan and Harris Schultz retired from active ministry in congregations at the beginning of 2007, she as a church educator and he as pastor. After several years of vagabonds in RVs, they began to winter in Sun City AZ and travel during the summer months. Realizing they needed to be more settled, they chose to move to Altoona to be closer to family. Jan is a church educator and a ruling elder. Harris served 12 congregations, the last 8 as intentional interim pastor. They are a blended family with 6 sons and have 10 grandchildren scattered from Denver to the Atlanta area.

Karen Hayes-Seivers

Karen Hayes-Sievers recently celebrated her 76th birthday! She is a widow, and has 2 adult sons, Bryan and Kerry. Bryan is married to Amber. Karen has two grandchildren: Henry who is 20, a student at Grandview in Early Education with a focus on special needs children. Emerson is a junior at Roosevelt and in swim (Lady Tankers) and on the track team. She is proud of them both! She also has Murphee, a 5 year old Beagle mix and 7 year old Michee (Princess) a tortoise/tabby mix. Bryan works at Vermeer, mostly from home, in cyber security. Kerry works at John Deere in Ankeny. Everybody has dogs!
