Introducing: Rev. Meghan Davis-Brass, Associate Pastor for Pastoral Care.
Rev. Davis-Brass received her undergraduate degree from the College of Wooster. Meghan’s major was in Comparative literature, with minors in Russian Studies and Theater. She continued her studies at Ohio University, receiving a master’s degree in Theater History and Criticism. A few years later, Meghan received her call to ministry and began her seminary education at San Francisco Theological Seminary in 2007.
Rev. Davis-Brass served as a solo pastor in Longview, Washington, before accepting the call as a solo pastor at First Presbyterian Church in Newton, Iowa. Meghan has served at Newton First Church since June 2014. First Presbyterian Church in Newton is going through a financial transition, leaving Rev. Davis-Brass with a new opportunity at Westminster. She will remain 40 hours per week at Newton First through December 2023. She will also work 20 hours per week at Westminster moving forward. She will also participate in Westminster’s worship service on the fourth Sunday of each month. Starting in 2024, Meghan’s position in Newton will conclude, and she will consider another part-time job in the Des Moines area.
Meghan Davis-Brass is an experienced, dedicated, and creative pastor who will bless Westminster.
Along with being a pastor, Meghan is also a trained Christian Yoga instructor. She participated in a Cultural exchange in Turkey, “Spiritual Kaleidoscope,” and recently completed a Sabbatical, walking the Camino de Santiago from St. Jean Pied de Port, France, to Santiago de Compostela (approximately 500 miles) in 28 days. Then, Meghan spent three weeks in Scotland, including one week with the Iona Community on the Isle of Iona.
We are honored to introduce Rev. Meghan Davis-Brass as our new half-time Associate Pastor for Pastoral Care. Meghan will participate in worship on Sunday, April 30th. You will have the opportunity to visit with her in the Commons after the service. Come and meet our new Associate Pastor!
