Year-End Giving Reminder

A Reminder about Year-End Donations and their Tax-Deductibility.

“Then give to the emperor the things that are the emperor’s, and to God the things that are God’s.” -Luke 20:25.

How ironic that the separation of church and state was already an issue in Jesus’ day. In our time it crosses boundaries with the timing of when a donation is recorded and its tax-deductibility, especially at the end of the calendar year.

Westminster follows these policies for a donation to be recognized in 2023:

• Place in the offering plate Sunday, December 31, 2023.

• Process online with credit card or ACH at: www.westpres.org/howtogive by December 31, 2023.

• If mailed, must be postmarked with a 2023 date.

To ensure deductibility of your church contributions, do not file your 2023 income tax return until you receive a written acknowledgment of your contributions from Westminster. Some of your contributions may not be tax-deductible if you file before receiving documentation. Charitable giving statements will be mailed to you in mid-January 2024.

Giving to God is a good idea any time. Giving at year’s-end in thanksgiving for abundance in the past is a wonderful way to put away the old and welcome in the new.
