Fun Time in God’s Garden
Saturday, July 17, Lynette Thornton, from Lutheran Services of Iowa, conducted a class on “good bugs/bad bugs and good weeds/bad weeds” for our Westminster Church members and our new American gardeners. We learned a lot about uses of good weeds and the benefits of good bugs. We also had a chance to meet and visit with our new American gardeners. It was interesting to hear about their uses of ‘good weeds’ in cooking. When Lynette talked about ways to get rid of ‘bad’ weeds, she noted not to use chemicals. Jenesis, the interpreter, noted these gardeners do not know about chemicals; there is no word in their language to say “chemical” because it is something they do not use. Overall, it was a good time! Lynette may host another “class-on-the-go” in August – keep an eye on this newsletter for updates!
