Uplifting New Iowans Event

Many of us are familiar with Shalom Community Impact Center (SCIC), an Iowa not for profit corporation headed by

Eugene Kiruhura, its founder and executive Director. SCIC works primarily with refugees and immigrants to help with their assimilation into our community and country by providing a number of services to them. This past summer Alex Knoshaug, a Westminster member and junior at Grandview University, was a Westminster SUMMIT intern at SCIC. Alex worked closely with Eugene, providing valuable assistance for the SCIC summer youth program.

SCIC is sponsoring an event on Thursday, November 16th, titled the Uplifting New Iowans Event. Everyone is invited, and the event runs from 5:30 PM until 7:00 PM. It would be a great way to learn more about SCIC, its founder and its programs, to dip our toes into a different culture, experience some African music and dance, and perhaps sample some Congolese food. I am planning to attend, and I hope you will consider joining me.
