Doors open at 6:30 and shows start at 7:00 every night!
TICKETS
Individual Artist: A single ticket for a single show. $15 in advance, or $20 at the door, with the exception of the Craig Carothers and Dennis Warner shows. Those shows are $20 in advance and $25 at the door.
“Pick 3”: A set of 3 tickets good for any combination of shows. $50.
Season Pass: A booklet with tickets to all 6 shows for the season. $105
• Tickets can be purchased online by clicking on our donations link and writing "Anchor Coffee House" in the memo line.
• Tickets can also be purchased in the church office during normal business hours, in person , or over the phone with a credit card. Call 515-274-1534.

Season Line-Up
Craig Carothers
October 7, 2023
Craig’s music has been described as too folk for rock, too pop for folk, too jazz for country, and he’s too tall to be a jockey. It’s difficult to easily categorize his music without the use of hyphens. But the wide-ranging influences of Craig’s music-teacher parents can be heard in each of his more than 20 albums. When not touring, he shares his songwriting expertise as a professor at University of Miami, and through online and in-person songwriting workshops across the U.S. and Europe.
Cedar County Cobras

Cedar County Cobras play American roots and blues music from the last century. The music takes on an “old time” feel that would most likely be found in a juke-joint down a gravel road in rural Iowa. Tom Spielbauer and music partner April Dirks are behind the boot-stompin blues sound produced by the duo over the course of twenty years, playing blues and rock across Iowa and the Midwest. The Cobras have performed as a duo or a trio with guitarists George Spielbauer or Dustin Duwa as featured musicians.
The High Crest

The High Crest’s style comes from an organic hybrid of multiple genres: folk, rock, roots, blues, bluegrass, country. Their music is a blend of dueling guitars and powerful harmonies infused with soulful harmonica, resonator guitar and the groove of djembe hand drum. The High Crest pumps out a groovy blend that is distinct and authentic. Lively performances spanning more than a decade are backed by a solid reputation for masterful honest songwriting and professionalism.
Jordan Messerole

From the depths of his Iowa roots, multi-award winning songwriter Jordan Messerole writes songs that vary as greatly as the wild flowers in the native tall grass. Messerole does frequently write about that flora, as well as the fauna of the region. Not to mention all of its wild life. Not one to shy away from subject matter, the songs can frequently meander across the lines between love and loss, success and failure, or life and death. Messerole masterfully blends the sounds of his guitars with thoughtful lyrics.
B. John Burns

A songwriter and musician for over 50 years, John Burns has performed all over Iowa and all across the country. He has written approximately 5,000 songs in nearly every genre of music. He has appeared in 25 states, and continues to perform his tunes for mostly small, intimate audiences around central Iowa on piano, guitar, and ukulele. In his music, he writes about his life, his travels, and his hobbies.
Dennis Warner
April 6, 2024
Dennis is a folk singer, songwriter, and recording artist from Minnesota with 11 albums to his credit. He has performed in concert at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. as well as countless other festivals, universities, and community events around the country. He handles serious topics and ballads and blends them cleverly with up-tempo songs, audience participation and engaging, humorous stories. Dennis is continually praised for his warm stage presence and ability to connect with his audience.

Tickets to Anchor Coffee House
There are two ticket options listed below for Anchor Coffee House performances. All tickets are general admission and ticket prices will vary from season to season depending on the number of shows and the artists being presented. Don’t forget to sign up for our email list to be reminded of upcoming shows or visit and friend us on Facebook!
Single Show Advanced tickets may be purchased anytime in person at the church office and/or by contacting the church office; purchase by credit card until the day before the performance. Single Show Advanced tickets are available beginning three weeks before the performance at Up-Tempo Music™ located at 2714 Beaver Avenue Des Moines, Iowa 50310.
Door tickets for every performance are available 1 hour before the show at the door.
Anchor Coffee House performance cancellation and refund policy
Anchor Coffee House is following state and local guidelines, and has the right to cancel or postpone performances due to public health guidelines. We may, however, ask people to wear face coverings and/or implement social distancing measures.
In the event of a cancellation of an Anchor Coffee House performance due to weather or other emergency an attempt will be made to reschedule the canceled artist in the same performance season.
If it is not possible to reschedule the artist in the same season, tickets for that performance will be re-funded upon request at the full price of the ticket. To receive a full refund, tickets to the canceled performance must be presented in person to the Westminster Presbyterian Church Business office.
Alternate Artist
In the event of a cancellation the Anchor Coffee House has the option to present an alternate artist at the same ticket prices or offer different ticket prices for the alternate artist performance. In this event, ticket holders have the option to use the original ticket for admittance to the alternate artist performance or, upon request, receive a full refund for the original performance ticket.
