Thank You, Chadwick Boseman
This world can be a cruelly ironic place. Actor Chadwick Boseman kept taking roles that provided pride and strength. He portrayed everyone from Jackie Robinson to Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall. His role in “Black Panther” provided a whole new cinematic level of appreciation for the black community. It not only made his character a hero, but the actor himself became a superstar as well.
What made him even more amazing was he provided great performances while suffering through chemotherapy and colon cancer. Boseman said, “Purpose crosses disciplines. Purpose is an essential element of you. It is the reason you are on the planet at this particular time in history. Your very existence is wrapped up in the things you are here to fulfill. Whatever you choose for a career path, remember, the struggles along the way are only meant to shape you for your purpose.” To some extent, Chadwick Boseman knew his purpose in life and he lived it to the fullest.
Christopher D. Connors, in his article, “Don’t Be Afraid to Walk Away From What You Thought You Needed,” points out, “The conflict is when you lose faith and begin to doubt.” Even with colon cancer, Boseman did not lose faith and continued to live the life he was given, to the fullest. Boseman’s life will not be measured by years lived, but by the fullness of each moment of his life.
God has given each of us a life to live. God has given us unique gifts and skills, along with the opportunities to make a lasting difference. We are required to step up and live the life God intended. Whether it be short or long, it should be full of faith, hope, and love. One needn’t be a celebrity to live a heroic life. Making a difference in your little part of the world, is what God intended for you and me. Thank you, Chadwick Boseman, for giving us a larger than life example. Follow God’s call so each of us can live a large, faithfully powerful life!
