Kendra Leisinger is beginning her 28th year as a music educator. She has taught elementary general music in Ankeny since 1998, where she lives with her family – husband Alan and sons Cameron (20) and Aidan (14). Currently, she is serving as Conference Chair and President-Elect of the Iowa Music Educators Association. She accompanies church services at Resurrection Lutheran Church in Ankeny where she is also a member.
Kendra holds a bachelor’s degree from Wartburg College and a master’s degree in music education from UNI. She holds mastery level certificates in both Kodaly and Orff-Schulwerk music education methodologies. She taught Orff classes at Westminster for two years as part of the CACTUS summer fine arts camp. She served as the children’s choir accompanist from 2009-2012 for Heartland Youth choirs and has accompanied vocalists, instrumentalists and groups since 1979. Kendra has presented sessions at educators’ conferences, taught educators in arts integration summer classes around the state and taught private flute, piano and viola lessons for 12 years.
