You Were Made Good
“God saw everything that he had made, and indeed, it was very good.” (Genesis 1:31a)
After each day God said, “it was good.” What God made was good. It may have been corrupted by sin, but it was good. When light and dark were made, “it was good.” When vegetation was made, “it was good.” When animals were made, “it was good.” When human beings were made, “it was good.” Every baby born “was good.” When you and I were created, we were “good.”
It can be hard for many of us to believe we were ever “good.” It is important to believe that God made us “good.” Only then can we have faith to trust that we can be “born anew” as “good” again. I love the way the beginning of Genesis speaks of being “good.” At the end of the Book of Revelation it says, “See, I am making all things new” (Rev. 21:5). God is going to recreate the world anew and make it good again. God is going to recreate each one of us and make us good again!
Today, think about what parts of you, you would like to be made new. Perhaps there were decisions in your life you wish had been made differently. You will be made anew. Maybe you did not act when you should have. You will be made anew. Maybe you simply do not feel somehow, enough. You will be made anew. Thank God prayerfully today, for “washing you clean by the blood of the lamb” and making you good, and new.
